The difference between LCL and FCL in the world of business!
FCL method: The fcl method, which stands for full container lod. In this method, the exporter or importer actually has a container in its entirety and this container only has a customs license document, and this is one of the advantages of the FCL method of cargo transportation.
It is recommended to use the FCL method when the volume and quantity of your goods preferably occupy a container or 80% & 90% of the container, because if the volume and quantity of your cargo is the size of a container and you use the FCL method; the cost of the container is more affordable.
I must tell you that using the FCL method has a very high level of security compared to the LCL method; you ask why? Because you are sure that your cargo is in the container and is sent to a destination of your choice.
And you can also rest assured that your cargo is not in a common container with senders or customers who want to have multiple destinations and have a high risk.
Advantages of FCL shipping:
- This method is more cost-effective for exporters and importers whose volume and quantity of goods are large.
- Because you do not have to wait for other customers to fill the container, your container is loaded faster.
- Because the container is yours and not shared with other customers, it has high security and low risk.
Disadvantages of the FCL method:
If your cargo is small and you use the FCL method, you have a relatively high cost, and you may have a little trouble in unloading and clearance.
LCL method:
The LCL method, which stands for less container load. In this method, a container is divided between several customers with different goods and has several licenses with different names.
It is recommended that if you intend to import or export a product with a volume and quantity less than one container, you should definitely use the LCL method because it is more cost-effective and you do not have high costs.
Unlike the FCL method, where a container is filled with your own goods, in LCL your goods are filled with various other customers’ goods.
In the FCL method, you have to pay a fee alone to clear a container, but in the LCL method, this fee is divided more or less between the customers who have shared this container and is economical for you.
Note: Be sure that this method takes more time to load than the FCL method, because the container is divided between several people.
The LCL method is recommended for: - People whose cargo volume is less than a container.
- People who intend to export or import a product on a trial or test basis.
Advantages of the LCL method: - Easy and convenient clearance and delivery.
- Lower cost due to sharing the container between several exporters or importers.
